Jesus Christ Gary Oldman is still so fucking fine.

Apparently John Hillcoat isn’t messing around with this second chance at making THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD.

While the original film that ultimately fell apart sounded great, featuring a cast including Michael Shannon, Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson, this one sounds even better. THR is reporting that Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, and Mia Wasikowska have joined the film, which already stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke. and Dane DeHaan. Talk about an impeccable cast.

The film will be an adaptation of Matt Bondurant’s novel, The Wettest County, which follows three brothers who bootleg during Prohibition, until authorities want a cut. Featuring a screenplay by Nick Cave, the film will also be scored by him, and is currently in pre-production. Filming starts in a matter of weeks.

Personally, this is sounding almost too great. I love everyone involved here, and the idea of Hillcoat helming a Prohibition era drama has me more than excited. Toss in Cave as a writer/composer, and this top level cast, and you have easily one of the most interesting films currently in production.
